MASwings (a Malaysia Airlines subsidiary) and Firefly are the two Malaysian operators who have been using ATR 72 aircraft in their operation. Before ATR 72-600 was introduced, they were using ATR 72-500s. Firefly was using 12 ATR 72-500s prior to introduction of ATR 72-600 in its service.

Apart from MASWings and Firefly, Malindo Air also has several ATR 72-600s in service.
